'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith resumes clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he remembers the nail-biting final moments of Swansea's stunning fightback triumph against Nottingham Forest in the League Cup. That match culminated with Galbraith temporarily wearing a fan's glasses amid the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith struck the post with a speculative effort from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the deflection before sprinting toward the East Stand to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Extraordinary Turnaround

The result capped an extraordinary comeback given Swansea had found themselves down 2-0 midway through the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan sort of calling out and we were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we saw the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as footballers but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The victory secured a upcoming match at home against the Premier League champions on Wednesday, a club Galbraith came close against at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. He had an excellent perspective when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's long-range effort from about 45 yards going in via the crossbar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have hoped they would've given it to him for taking the effort on from that range," commented Galbraith, who played in the middle before shifting to right flank after the team changed formation. That meant facing off against City's winger, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the winger was among the Manchester squad who complimented the way the underdogs played positively.

Guardiola's System

"Athletically they are exceptional but even the fundamentals and simple things, they can just do it over and over again," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they always find their target and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then suddenly they will just fizz a pass through a line without you even noticing. You have to be alert at all times of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and concentration just to stay in the game."

Swansea Move

The club pushed to sign Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He established himself as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Leyton Orient and has swiftly done the same in south Wales. At the London club he joined forces once more with his former manager, who previously gave Galbraith his debut prolonged spell in first-team action on loan at Doncaster from Manchester United. Then came a spell at fourth-tier Salford, before he moved on from Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it seems the ball is moved without much intensity. There are limited hard challenges. Once you start playing professional matches you have to adapt rapidly."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that growth for both domestically and internationally, performing well for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has featured in the recent fixtures, including two matches fixtures against the German national team. His former international manager, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "creative maestro" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

It has been quite the ride for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in his hometown, just outside the capital, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Red Devils Debut

Galbraith's only game for the Red Devils came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was shut owing to temperatures of -15C. "It was a long trip and it was cold out there," he comments, chuckling. "The preceding week, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that assisted our preparation. Just to join the main group and earn some playing time at the end was incredible."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "It was quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I knew I wasn't going to make it at first-team level. I'm hugely grateful for the years at the club but it got to the point where I felt I required a fresh start, drop down the leagues and play first-team games. Now I'm slowly progressing again."

New Environment

It is the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at 5pm: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Until recently to Sketty, the 24-year-old was a regular in Swansea's nicknamed team minibus, a small coach driven by team personnel, the drivers, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"My companions include Gonçalo Franco, the Brazilian, the midfielder – the Swedish defender used to be in it but has got his license. It's pleasant to interact with the guys but I'm aiming to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and behind the wheel. His teammate is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Public Engagement

During his time at Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after beginning his trip at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
