Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player claimed his maiden championship for over two years with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a ex- world number one, has endured a challenging period, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in particular - caused him falling of the world's top 10 and ultimately splitting with former trainer Gilles Cervara.

Now collaborating with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has gradually advanced in the recent weeks - climaxing in a tightly fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 triumph over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This represents the player's initial trophy after the Rome competition and initial on a hardcourt after spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates Medvedev has won 21 championships at 21 distinct competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This title is in dedication of my child my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my child her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the past champion, had failed in his previous six finals, including in that event earlier this year.

His retrieving strategy and regular reactions on the playing surface had led commentators to wonder if his skill to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has made changes in the past month, striving to advance forward and compete positively, backed up by an enhanced service.

The champion came back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, winning four of the final five games to take the lead.

The pair exchanged service breaks in the middle set before Moutet, striving for his initial ATP Tour title, seized the initiative to create a third set.

The opponent rescued 4 early opportunities in a competitive third set before the Russian secured a break to that score to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
